Franklin University, a leader in adult education, is pleased to announce the launch of its new Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Instructional Design and Technology program. Featuring three specialized tracks, this fully online program is designed to equip professionals with the skills needed to drive educational innovation across K-12, higher education, and corporate training environments. As Ohio’s #1 nonprofit university for online degrees, Franklin continues to respond to the evolving needs of today's workforce and help learners advance their careers.

The M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Technology offers three distinct specializations:

M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Technology - Training & Development Specialization
Professionals seeking to enhance their expertise in organizational learning and development will find this specialization invaluable. Students will learn how to design, implement, and evaluate training programs that align with the goals of organizations, preparing them to lead workforce education initiatives. The program emphasizes practical skills in instructional design, e-learning platforms, and program evaluation, positioning graduates to excel in corporate training and organizational development roles.

M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Technology - Curriculum & Instruction in Higher Education Specialization
For educators and administrators in post-secondary settings, this specialization focuses on the creation and leadership of impactful curricula that enhance the learning experience in colleges and universities. Students will develop expertise in integrating educational technologies, evaluating learning outcomes, and applying data-driven approaches to improve student success. Graduates will be prepared for leadership roles in academic departments, faculty training, and higher education administration.

M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Technology - Curriculum & Instruction in K-12 Education Specialization
Designed specifically for K-12 educators, this specialization focuses on equipping professionals with the skills to lead curriculum development and instructional strategies in elementary and secondary education settings. Through this program, students will explore curriculum design, instructional alignment, and technology integration, ensuring that they are well-prepared to tackle modern educational challenges, improve student outcomes, and foster teacher development. Graduates will also gain hands-on experience with tools like Articulate 360 to enhance learning experiences in digital environments.

Flexible, Career-Ready Learning
The M.Ed. program is 100% online and designed for working professionals. Students can complete the program in as little as 12 months, enabling them to advance their careers while balancing their personal and professional commitments. The curriculum is built on hands-on, project-based learning, mirroring real-world challenges and empowering students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical settings.

The growing demand for skilled instructional designers and educational technologists is reflected in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ projected 7% growth in instructional design roles from 2021 to 2031. Franklin's M.Ed. program responds to this need, preparing graduates to lead educational innovation in a variety of settings, from K-12 schools and universities to corporate environments.
