Inspire and motivate teams with an MPA-Organizational Leadership
Effective leadership is a valuable skill regardless of your professional title or role. With Franklin’s theory-to-practice Master of Public Administration with a Specialization in Organizational Leadership, you’ll gain insights into different leadership styles and develop your own authentic style, allowing you to inspire and motivate teams effectively. Through the 14-month, online MPA-Organizational Leadership, you’ll build career versatility by learning how to adapt your leadership approach to drive success within a variety of organizational cultures.

Prepare for leadership with a theory-to-practice online MPA
Connect what you learn to what’s happening in your community through Interactive assignments. In addition to Franklin’s faculty of in-field scholar-practitioners who bring their expertise to each course, you’ll have assignments like leader interviews that put you 1:1 with a government leader. You’ll also write policy memos on issues that are currently being debated.
You gain valuable insights into the reality of governance, decision-making and community engagement through the scenario-based learning that is woven throughout the master’s in public administration program. You’ll become well acquainted with Franklin Heights (pop. 132,520), a hypothetical city that becomes the backdrop for public administration theories and concepts. Each course introduces a new aspect of city life full of real-world dilemmas and opportunities to apply your new-found knowledge.
Earn an MPA-Organizational Leadership that aligns with your goals
By pursuing Franklin’s online MPA degree you’ll learn to apply public administration theory to analyze current governmental issues. Through six, 6-week major area courses, you’ll build strong communication and interdisciplinary problem-solving skills that will equip you for leadership and management roles in government agencies, public service organizations, policy and research institutions or regulatory bodies. You’ll be able to thrive in fast-paced collaborative environments focused on policy implementation, public service and community development
Through the three courses provided in the MPA-Organizational Leadership Specialization, you’ll cultivate essential leadership competencies desired by employers, including people management, change management and fostering innovation within organizations.
Use ethical principles and leadership theories to personalize your leadership style
Prepare for a variety of public service roles and challenges in which you will need to use your leadership and ethical skills to make a positive difference. You’ll evaluate different leadership approaches, techniques and strategies and apply them to develop your own leadership style. Using leadership skills and tools to work with people and groups effectively, you’ll learn how to put administrative plans and decisions into action. You will also learn how to communicate and collaborate with different stakeholders, such as elected officials, the media, interest groups and the public.
Research and apply leadership concepts to create your leadership voice
Become a more effective and successful leader by studying historical and current thinking on leadership. Learn how leadership theories shape the world of work and assess what impact current leadership theories and practices have had on you, your peers and your organizations. You’ll have the opportunity to create a leadership development plan that will help you improve and polish your leadership skills and abilities. You’ll also evaluate how your leadership style equates to performance and outcomes, and how to adjust it as needed.
Take a psychological approach to improvement
Harness the power of psychology to become a more effective and influential manager and leader in any organization. You’ll learn how psychology shapes the behavior and interactions of leaders and followers, and how you can use this insight to achieve your goals. You’ll discover your leadership personality type and style using the Leadership Personality Assay and evaluate your strengths and areas for improvement as a manager.
