1. Apply Online

Submit your online application using an email address that you check regularly. Once your application is processed, you will receive an email with a username, password, and link to log into our MyTools applicant system. You can track your progress throughout the admission process using MyTools.

2. Submit Transcripts

Franklin accepts electronic transcripts from other institutions and from third-party transcript providers. In both cases, electronic transcripts must be emailed from the provider directly to Franklin University. Electronic transcripts sent from the applicant will not be accepted as official.

Your official transcripts or evaluation can also be sent through the mail directly from the provider to:

Franklin University
ATTN: Office of Transfer and Articulation
201 S. Grant Ave.
Columbus, OH 43215-5339

Note: If your transcripts are from post-secondary institutions located outside the U.S., please submit them to an approved third-party transcript evaluation agency. Once the agency has completed the evaluation of your transcripts, have your official evaluation submitted to the Office of Transfer and Articulation.

Official course descriptions and syllabi may be requested to maximize transfer or prerequisite credit. See transcript details under your intended program level below for full requirements.

3. Demonstrate English Proficiency

To be eligible for admission to Franklin University's programs, you must submit proof of sufficient English proficiency. The requirement is met through any of the following:

  • official scores from an approved standardized test,
  • ACCUPLACER English as a Second Language (ESL) tests administered by Franklin University,
  • citizenship in an approved exempted country, or
  • completion of a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an institution located in an approved exempted country and in which the courses were taught in English.

Franklin University accepts official English proficiency scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Cambridge English Language Assessment (Cambridge), or Duolingo English Test. See Proficiency Requirements below for a list of approved standardized tests and the minimum scores for each. Contact OISP for information on how to complete ACCUPLACER ESL® assessments on campus or through a virtual proctor service.

See your intended program level below for score details and the list of Exempted Countries to determine if the proficiency requirement can be fulfilled through your citizenship or English-language degree.

4. Provide Other Documentation

If you plan to come to the U.S. as an international student and/or attend Franklin University in F-1 immigration status, you must provide evidence that you have sufficient funding once you have been accepted to a degree program at Franklin. This evidence, also called "proof of financial responsibility," should, at minimum, demonstrate access to sufficient funds to pay for one year's tuition and living expenses if you will be sponsored or two years' tuition and living expenses if you will be self-funded.

Prospective F-1 students must submit the following to be eligible for a Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status (Form I-20):

  • a financial sponsorship form signed by you and your sponsor,
  • financial statements from the sponsor that demonstrate sufficient funding for the student’s intended program, and
  • a copy of the biographical information page of your passport.

Additional funding and information will be required if you intend to include dependents in F-2 immigration status.
