We Salute Our Summer 2024 Graduates

Franklin University’s 177th Commencement Ceremony honors the achievements of 644 graduates, who represent 36 states and 16 countries.

Earning a degree is a significant accomplishment – and doing so while balancing family, work and other life commitments make this milestone even more meaningful. While the diploma certifies our graduates’ new-found knowledge and skills, it is also a testament to the abilities they relied on to reach the finish line – hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

Graduating Student Speaker
 

Amanda Fetherolf

Amanda Fetherolf has spent over 20 years with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, starting as a secretary and rising to become the Identification Bureau manager. In her current role, she oversees the bureau’s operations and staff, ensuring the accurate handling of criminal identification records for Franklin County. Her career reflects a strong commitment to criminal justice, having served as an Identification Bureau supervisor for five years and as an identification technician for seven years.

Amanda has made a significant impact on her community and profession. Her career showcases her dedication, leadership and passion for criminal justice. For nearly a decade, Amanda has developed and taught courses on fingerprint classification and collection, leading annual in-service training for the Identification Bureau. She also testifies as an expert witness in Franklin County courts, further establishing herself as a respected authority within the forensic community.  

Active in her field, Amanda has been a member of the Ohio Identification Officer’s Association since 2012, serving as president in 2019, and continuing as secretary. She also belongs to the International Association for Identification and the Idemia User’s Group International.

Today, Amanda graduates with a B.S. Criminal Justice Administration. She was inducted into Franklin University’s honor society and is graduating summa cum laude. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Amanda currently resides in Grove City with her husband and their two young sons, ages 3 and 1. Her husband also serves his community and nation as a deputy sheriff and military member.  

Outstanding Graduation Honorees

 

Rebecca Sullivan

With over 15 years in hospitality and healthcare, MBA graduate Rebecca Sullivan is the senior service area manager at Mount Carmel Health System. She oversees Food and Nutrition services for five hospitals, enhancing patient experience and operational efficiency. Her career highlights include improving patient care, leading multi-million-dollar projects, creating innovative training programs and driving revenue growth. Driven by a commitment to excellence and inclusivity, Rebecca excels in leading high-performing teams and has extensive experience in project management, stakeholder collaboration, and implementing sustainability and community health programs. 

Rose Yaghi has fulfilled the requirements necessary to receive her Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA) degree. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, a master’s degree in cancerology and a second master’s in analytical chemistry. Dr. Yaghi’s work as a senior scientist in one of the global pharmaceutical sectors inspired her to pursue her DHA at Franklin University. With a great desire to make a difference in the fight against chronic illnesses, Rose enjoys applying her analytical talents toward the mission of expanding the healthcare system. 

Bailey Award Winners

 

Laurie Crawford

Laurie Crawford began teaching at Franklin as an adjunct instructor in 2001. She currently serves as lead faculty for computer science and continues to teach regularly. Laurie is passionate about teaching adult learners and mastering best practices in adult education and online instruction. She strives to be the best for her students. Early in her career, Laurie worked as a member of technical staff at AT&T Bell Labs, where she developed switching system applications and held various roles including programmer, customer liaison and technical manager. She earned a master's degree in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master's degree in executive management from Ashland University, and a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Scott Ebbrecht

Dr. Scott Ebbrecht has been with Franklin University since 2019. Drawing on his extensive background in educational leadership and public-school administration, his teaching style is engaging and supportive. Scott approaches teaching as a coach and mentor, fostering active participation, collaborative learning and critical thinking. By integrating real-world experiences and practical applications, he helps students connect theoretical concepts to practical scenarios. Dr. Ebbrecht’s career in public education spans roles that include sixth-grade teacher, principal and suburban school administrator, as well as 34 years of board or executive leadership of nonprofit organizations. He received his doctorate in organizational leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a master's in educational administration from The Ohio State University, and a bachelor’s in elementary education and reading from Capital University.

Alumni Award for Professional Excellence

The Alumni Award for Professional Excellence will be awarded to an outstanding alumnus who has achieved sustained success throughout their career that is noteworthy and exceptional, demonstrated sustained contribution to their profession at local, national and international levels, and raised their profile and standing within their community, country, or internationally and bring greater recognition to their profession.

2024 Recipient for Alumni Award for Professional Excellence

 

 

Dorrie Dils is president and CEO of Gift of Life Michigan. As the leader of the nation’s 11th-largest organ and tissue program, Dils oversees a staff of more than 400 professionals who work statewide to help fulfill the decisions of organ and tissue donors and their families. Dils also serves as president of the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations, which represents 48 of the nation’s 56 organ donor programs. In that role, she works on national issues that impact organ donation to increase donation and save the lives of the more than 100,000 people waiting for an organ transplant.  

Dils began her career at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, as a registered nurse in a busy Level-I trauma intensive care unit. She transitioned to organ donation in 1991, as a donation coordinator for Lifeline of Ohio, where she served in various capacities until eventually becoming the chief clinical officer. 

Dils has been active nationally, serving on the Organ Procurement and Transplant Network (OPTN) OPO, Thoracic and Transplant Administrators committees, as well as the OPTN Board of Directors. Previously, she served as vice chair of the University of Toledo Donation and Transplant Sciences program. She is a former chair of the AOPO Ethics Committee and served as vice chair of its Advocacy Committee. 

Dils was a faculty member for the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) collaborative. She served as a board member for the National Kidney Foundation of Ohio and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She was honored by Business First as part of the publication’s 2004 Forty Under 40 class and in 2020, Dils was named a Notable Woman in Health by Crain’s Detroit Business. 

Dils has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Franklin University and a master’s in healthcare administration from Ohio University.
