Franklin University, a leader in online education, is pleased to announce the launch of its Superintendent Licensure Post-Graduate Certificate program. Designed for professionals currently in principal or administrative roles, this flexible, 100% online program offers a streamlined path to superintendent certification in Ohio. The program is aligned with state standards and can be completed in as few as eight months, providing working educators the opportunity to advance their careers while balancing professional and personal commitments.

The superintendent licensure program equips future education leaders with the skills necessary to guide K-12 school districts effectively. The curriculum blends online coursework with two 12-week, hands-on internships, enabling learners to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. Students will gain expertise in strategic planning, school finance, legal compliance, data-driven decision-making, and community engagement—critical competencies for leading equitable, high-performing learning environments.

A key feature of Franklin’s program is its emphasis on practical learning. Students benefit from live online sessions with experienced superintendents who provide firsthand insights into district leadership. The internships further enhance the learning experience, enabling students to develop comprehensive improvement plans that address real challenges within their school districts, such as student attendance, teacher retention, or special education support.

Franklin’s program also offers a seamless transition to continued education. By completing the superintendent licensure certificate, learners fulfill the coursework for the PK-12 Educational Leadership focus within Franklin’s Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership. While not required for superintendent roles, an Ed.D. can support ongoing professional growth and leadership development.

With the increasing preference for advanced qualifications in education leadership, many school districts are seeking candidates with credentials beyond a master's degree, such as a certificate or doctoral-level education, especially in larger districts. This trend reflects the growing demand for educators to possess specialized skills in managing diverse and evolving educational environments. Franklin University’s Superintendent Licensure Certificate program provides a valuable, career-focused opportunity for those seeking to advance into district-level leadership.
