Profile

I am originally from Louisiana and love my creole food. I have a 19-year-old son who is a sophomore in college this coming Fall Semester and have been a single parent ever since starting the MBA program in 2003. My son was ten months old when I decided to go back to school to pursue my masters. I was working and finishing up my Bachelor's Degree while I was pregnant and was determined to finish school without taking a break. I know what it is like to work, go to school and take care of a family. I received my AA/Nursing from Mount St. Mary's College. I received my Bachelors in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Administrator Services from Cal State Dominguez Hills. I received my MBA in Health Care Management from the University of Phoenix. I also received my Doctorate in Health Administrator with the University of Phoenix. I received my Master in Gerontology in 2017 and Master in Social Work, in May 2020 from USC. I have been working and going to school since 1993. I know that it takes strong determination and dedication in order to successfully reach my goals. I retired from the State of California after 21 years. I worked for the Department of Social Services with the elderly population, for over (14) years. I enjoy working with the elderly population. It brings great satisfaction to know that I am helping them prolong their life. My job was to ensure that the residential care facilities or assisted living facilities are caring for the elderly and following the Title 22 guidelines set forth by the State of California. My son calls me the police for the elderly. I also worked almost a year for the County of San Bernardino, Long Term Care Ombudsman Program as Department Supervisor, where I supervised eight (8) Ombudsman and the same Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facilities that I oversaw when I worked for the State of California.  I have lived in California for over 30+ years and after visiting and living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the past year, I have decided to pack up and move to Texas permanently.  I am very excited about this new chapter in my life.

As an instructor, I love supporting and helping my students reach that next level in their educational life.  I enjoy learning from the students because they have so much to share on this journey.  I have taught in the higher learner arena for over 14 years.  I have served as a lead faculty member for about three years.  I have been awarded Academic Faculty of Year on three occassions and Distinguished Faculty of the Year on two separate occassions.  I have served on the committee for curriculum review.
