John Torpey

Profile

Dr. John Torpey has served as an Adjunct Faculty member at Franklin University since 2006 and currently teaches several classes in the management, accounting, and energy management programs. He designed Energy Management, Managerial Accounting, and Sustainability courses for Franklin University and the American College of Education. John is an energy industry and communications consultant with extensive utility industry experience including integrated resource planning (IRP), project management, corporate planning and budgeting, and power generation engineering. John retired from the American Electric Power Service Corporation in 2020. At AEP, John served as a managing director in the corporate planning and budgeting group where he led the integrated resource planning process for AEP operating companies over an 11-state footprint. John earned his Doctorate in Business Administration from Franklin University (OH) in 2020, an MBA from St. John’s University (NY), and a Bachelor of Engineering from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art (NY). He also participated in Executive Education programs at the University of Virginia (The Darden Graduate School of Business) and The Ohio State University. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Professional Engineer (PE) registered in Ohio.
