David McCurry, EdD, MEd, MFA

Profile

Dr. McCurry has worked internationally and in the US for over 40 years in the fields of Teacher Education, Information and Communications Technology in Education, Field Extension Communications and Curriculum and Materials Development. He is a former Fulbright Lecturer (Malawi, 1988 to 1991) and US Peace Corps Volunteer (The Gambia, 1980 to 1983). He has published in the areas of technology and society, technology in teacher education and African educational research.

After 18 years working in African educational development, he spent 8 years as a professor of education in the US, directing Masters of Education and electronic portfolio assessment programs in addition to regular teaching, research and advising duties, moving to South Carolina and co-founding Jacaranda Educational Development with his wife, Dr. Bonnie Mullinix, in 2006.

His academic specialties are in the areas of instructional design and curriculum development, the materials and technology of teaching and learning, qualitative research using visual data (video and photography), application of ethnographic research to organizational assessment and evaluation, and international development education. David worked for 9 years in Online/Distance Education Program Management in higher education, building institutional strategies and vision, faculty development and training programs, course and instructional design support for higher education staff. He is also a working artist and musician. Dr. McCurry teaches for Franklin University as a Qualitative Research Methodologist in the Doctor of Education Professional Studies program and currently serves on the board of the Southern Region Faculty and Instructional Development Consortium in the US.
