Our Academic Advisors

Franklin employs professional staff advisors who work with undergraduate and graduate students from their first term through graduation. Doctoral students will work with a professional staff advisor and faculty advisor. Students can find their advisor information by logging into their myFranklin and locating the “Your Advisors” button in the left-hand menu.

Advising Mission Statement

Franklin University's academic advising is accessible, timely, and student centered. Using an integrated approach, our professional advisors advocate for and encourage students as they attain personal and educational goals. In collaboration with the University community, we teach our students to connect with available resources in order to foster a culture of success.

Advising Expectations

Advisors expect students to…

  • Stay in contact at least once a term. Be proactive by reaching out for assistance in a timely manner.
  • Participate fully in the advising experience by being prepared for advising appointments. This is your time to ask questions and share goals with your advisor.
  • Take responsibility for the decisions and actions that impact your education. 
  • Understand registration deadlines, academic requirements, academic resources and university policies and procedures.
  • Check your Franklin student email and Canvas inbox frequently. Communication is a vital part of your advising and student experience at Franklin.

Students can expect advisors to…

  • Create a trusting environment through active listening while supporting and developing your self-advocacy, decision making and accountability. 
  • Answer questions related to individual student goals and concerns.
  • Understand academic requirements, degree progression and university policies and procedures.
  • Discuss academic performance and implications. 
  • Share resources and university support when necessary.
