Leverage clinical placements to personalize your experience

With a team of support in your corner, Franklin provides you with the freedom to choose a preceptor and/or preceptor site aligned with your goals and priorities. Take advantage of Franklin’s relationship with hundreds of affiliated sites nationwide to customize your training to your interests, build a professional network to enhance future career opportunities, plan your clinical hours around your work schedule or find a location that meets your geographic requirements.

Find your perfect match

The search for eligible preceptors and clinical sites begins 12 months prior to your first term of nurse practitioner courses. You’ll have access to resources including Nurse Practitioner Town Hall meetings and a list of more than 600 affiliated clinical sites nationwide.

Once you identify a site from the list, you will need approval from the Clinical Placement Office. The clinical placement team will also finalize the arrangements for each rotation or assist you if you have difficulty finding a preceptor or a clinical site.

Make the most of your experience

When possible, you’ll be paired with the same clinical supervising faculty member and the same preceptor throughout your clinical experiences – so you can stay on a consistent path for growth and deepen your professional relationships. Your preceptor will provide guidance, encouragement – and most importantly, the feedback that will fuel your evolution from student to skilled practitioner.

While grades are the responsibility of your clinical supervising faculty member, your preceptor provides input based on observations of your on-site work.

Get the support you need – every step of the way

Lean on the Clinical Placement Office for support to ensure you can access the clinical and practicum experience you need. Your engagement with the clinical team will begin at least 12 months prior to your first round of clinicals. The office coordinates Nurse Practitioner Town Hall Meetings, provides contact information for more than 600 affiliated clinical sites nationwide, and will keep you in-the-know with emails and updates about new opportunities available to you.
