Profile

Hello everyone, My professional career has had a lot of variety. After graduating with a B.S. in Medical Technology in '95, I started work at a rural hospital with only 25 beds and 5 staff members on the night shift. Although it was an enriching experience (talk about wearing multiple hats), I soon went to work at larger hospitals in the south-west suburbs of Chicago. From there I went up through the ranks as a shift-lead, supervisor and then lab manager. It was at this time I received my M.S. in Healthcare Administration from University of St. Francis, entirely in the on-line format. As a lab manager, I was not only responsible for the operation of the lab, but for the computer systems as well, which led to my next career move into the industry sector. In this field, I lead a team that programs laboratory computers across the country, to make the workflow more consistent and much faster. To further my education, I completed a Ph.D. in Healthcare Administration and successfully defended my dissertation in August of 2016. My dissertation was on adapting the fit-viability model for use in selecting hospital laboratory equipment. I have served on the CLIS document development committee for autoverification and was a co-author on the AUTO15 document published in 2019. I currently serve on CLSI’s Expert Panel on Automation and Informatics.
